Copper Nickel Elbow is an important pipe fitting used to change the direction of copper nickel piping systems. Copper nickel elbow is designed for copper nickel piping systems where reliable corrosion resistance and long service life are required. Due to the excellent resistance of copper nickel alloys to seawater corrosion, erosion corrosion and marine biofouling, copper nickel elbows are widely used in marine seawater pipelines, shipbuilding, offshore platforms, desalination plants, heat exchangers and coastal industrial piping systems.
In seawater service, copper nickel alloys can form a stable protective film on the internal surface, helping reduce corrosion and extending the service life of the piping system. Copper nickel elbows also offer good weldability and fabrication performance, making them suitable for shipbuilding installation and prefabricated pipe spool systems. Copper nickel elbows can be supplied together with copper nickel pipes, tees, reducers, flanges, stub ends and other pipe fittings to provide a complete marine copper nickel piping solution.
We supply copper nickel elbows in 90/10 copper nickel C70600 / CuNi10Fe1Mn and 70/30 copper nickel C71500 / CuNi30Mn1Fe materials. Available types include 45 degree elbows, 90 degree elbows, 180 degree elbows, long radius elbows, short radius elbows and custom fabricated elbows according to project drawings.
Available Types of Copper Nickel Elbow
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| 45° Copper Nickel Elbow | Used for moderate change of pipe direction |
| 90° Copper Nickel Elbow | Common elbow for right-angle pipe direction change |
| 180° Copper Nickel Elbow | Used for return piping systems |
| Long Radius Copper Nickel Elbow | Smooth flow direction change with lower pressure loss |
| Short Radius Copper Nickel Elbow | Used where installation space is limited |
| Butt Weld Copper Nickel Elbow | Suitable for welded copper nickel piping systems |
| Custom Copper Nickel Elbow | Manufactured according to customer drawings or project requirements |

Copper Nickel 90 Degree Elbow
Copper nickel 90 degree elbow is one of the most commonly used CuNi pipe fittings. It is used to change the pipe direction by 90 degrees and is widely installed in marine seawater cooling, fire water, ballast water and offshore piping systems.

Copper Nickel 45 Degree Elbow
Copper nickel 45 degree elbow is used where a smaller change in pipe direction is required. It helps reduce flow resistance compared with a sharp direction change and is suitable for compact marine piping arrangements.

Difference Between 90/10 and 70/30 Copper Nickel Elbow
| Item | 90/10 Copper Nickel Elbow | 70/30 Copper Nickel Elbow |
|---|---|---|
| UNS Grade | C70600 | C71500 |
| Common Grade | CuNi10Fe1Mn | CuNi30Mn1Fe |
| Copper / Nickel Ratio | Approx. 90% Cu / 10% Ni | Approx. 70% Cu / 30% Ni |
| Corrosion Resistance | Excellent | Excellent |
| Strength | Good | Higher |
| Erosion Resistance | Good | Better in severe conditions |
| Typical Use | General marine seawater systems | Offshore and high-velocity seawater service |
| Cost | More economical | Higher |
90/10 copper nickel elbows are commonly used for general marine seawater piping systems. 70/30 copper nickel elbows are recommended for more demanding offshore, high-strength or higher flow seawater applications.
