Types of Marine Grade Aluminium Extrusions
In the shipbuilding industry, marine grade aluminium extrusion profiles have become an indispensable key material due to their lightweight, corrosion resistance, and high strength. As a professional factory specializing in marine grade aluminum extruded profiles, we not only boast a rich product line but also provide reliable solutions for global customers with superior product quality and authoritative certifications.

Marine grade aluminium extrusions are mainly divided into four categories: plates, profiles, tubes, and special structural components. Each category is optimized for the needs of different parts of the ship:
1. Marine grade aluminum plates:
Plate thickness ranges from 1.6mm to over 30mm, with a maximum width of 2.5 meters, and lengths are customized according to specific customer requirements. Plates play a crucial role in different parts of the ship. For example, checkered plates are often used in deck areas; their unique surface pattern design greatly enhances anti-slip performance, effectively ensuring the safety of crew members walking on deck. For the hull structure, high-strength aluminum alloy plates such as 5083 and 5086 are often used. These plates undergo special heat treatment processes, achieving a tensile strength of over 270MPa, capable of withstanding various external forces encountered by the ship during navigation, ensuring the stability of the hull structure.
2. Marine grade aluminum profiles:
The variety of profiles is extremely rich, encompassing symmetrical/asymmetrical round-head flat aluminum profiles, equilateral/non-equilateral angle aluminum profiles, channel aluminum profiles, T-shaped aluminum profiles, and many other types, with heights ranging from 40mm to 400mm. These profiles are formed in one piece using advanced extrusion technology. Their unique rib height and spacing design significantly reduces hull weight while ensuring structural strength.
6082 Angle Aluminum:
6082 aluminum alloy belongs to the Al-Mg-Si alloy system, possessing medium strength, good corrosion resistance, and weldability. In shipbuilding, 6082-T6 aluminum alloy extruded angle aluminum profiles are widely used. For example, the angle aluminum profiles we provided for a luxury yacht project have a tensile strength as high as 310MPa and a yield strength of 270MPa. In the yacht's structural design, this angle aluminum profile is used to construct the hull frame structure, effectively reducing the overall weight of the yacht and improving its sailing performance. Furthermore, its excellent machinability facilitates cutting, drilling, bending, and other processing operations, meeting the design requirements of the yacht's complex structure.

5083 channel aluminum:
5083 aluminum alloy is renowned for its excellent resistance to seawater corrosion. 5083-H112 aluminum alloy extruded channel aluminum is commonly used in shipbuilding for cable laying channels and equipment mounting frames. Its unique channel structure facilitates the installation and fixation of cables and equipment, while its excellent corrosion resistance ensures long-term use in marine environments without corrosion damage, guaranteeing the stable operation of the ship's electrical systems.

6061 T-Shaped Aluminum:
6061 aluminum alloy possesses excellent comprehensive properties, including high strength, good machinability, and weldability. 6061-T6 aluminum alloy extruded T-shaped aluminum plays a crucial role in shipbuilding superstructures and deck support structures. Its T-shaped structure provides a large load-bearing area, effectively distributing the stress on the structure, while its high strength ensures the stability of the superstructure. Furthermore, the good machinability of 6061 alloy allows T-shaped aluminum to be precisely machined according to different design requirements, meeting the diverse structural needs of ships.

3. Pipes/Tubes:
Pipes play a crucial role in shipbuilding, with outer diameters ranging from 16mm to 150mm and wall thicknesses from 3mm to 8mm. They are widely used in hulls, superstructures, and masts.
6082 aluminum pipes:
6082 aluminum pipes possess excellent corrosion resistance, enabling long-term stable operation in marine environments. A dense oxide film forms on their surface, effectively preventing corrosion from chloride ions and other corrosive media in seawater, thus reducing the risk of pitting and crevice corrosion. Furthermore, 6082 aluminum pipes exhibit good weldability, facilitating easy welding during the installation of ship piping systems. The high strength of the welded joints effectively ensures the sealing and reliability of the piping system. For example, the 6082-T6 aluminum alloy extruded pipes we supplied to a marine research vessel maintained excellent performance after rigorous salt spray and pressure tests, providing strong assurance for the vessel's long-term operation.
5086 aluminum pipes:
5086 aluminum pipes possess high strength and good low-temperature performance. In vessels operating in cryogenic environments, such as polar research ships, 5086 aluminum tubing ensures that the piping system will not experience brittle fracture at low temperatures, guaranteeing the ship's normal operation. Its high strength also allows it to withstand significant pressure, making it suitable for transporting high-pressure fluids or gases.

4. Special structural components
Such as integral extruded bulkheads, are produced by rolling or extruding reinforcing ribs into a single unit, allowing for flat shapes or tubular shapes. This design further simplifies the manufacturing process, reduces the number of weld joints, thereby lowering the risk of structural strength reduction due to welding defects, while also reducing structural weight and improving the overall performance of the vessel.
The core advantages of marine grade aluminum extrusion lie in their lightweight, corrosion resistance, and machinability. Haomei Aluminum adopt advanced extrusion processes and a rigorous quality control system to ensure that every batch of products meets international standards. For example, our 5083 aluminum alloy sheets, through heat treatment process, achieve a tensile strength of 315 MPa and a yield strength of 220 MPa, while maintaining an elongation of over 10%, meeting the dual requirements of strength and toughness for ship structures.
