Certified Marine Grade Aluminum
Certified marine grade aluminum 5052, 5083, 5086, 5454 and 5754 have been used in the shipbuilding industry for a long time. But they are really widely used in ships in modern times. With the low density, high strength, high rigidity and corrosion resistance of marine grade aluminum plates, ship designers believe that aluminum plates are more suitable for shipbuilding than steel plates. The processing cost of aluminum is lower, so it is more economical to use aluminum to make ships.
There are several reasons why certified marine grade aluminum are used in shipbuilding:
1, Due to the low density of marine aluminum plate, the weight is lighter than other materials. The overall weight of the ship made of marine grade aluminum plate is between 15 and 20% lighter than that of steel plate. In this way, the designer can reduce the single engine capacity and increase sailing speed, fuel consumption will be greatly reduced in convenience. Ships made of marine grade aluminum are more stable, easier to operate, and stronger in transportation.
2, The anti-corrosion performance of marine grade aluminum plate reduces maintenance costs such as oiling, and can extend the service life (usually more than 20 years).
3, Good processing and forming performance, easy to perform various forms of processing such as cutting, stamping, cold bending, forming and cutting, suitable for streamlining of the hull. Large and wide thin-walled profiles can be extruded, reducing the number of welds and made the hull structure rationalized and lightweight.
4, The welding performance of certified marine grade aluminum is good, and the welding can be carried out relatively easily. The modulus of elasticity is small, the ability to absorb impact stress is large, and it has greater safety. No low temperature brittleness, it is most suitable for low temperature equipment.
